Community Work

Lane is passionate about supporting numerous community groups through Community GP, a not-for-profit organisation with a mission to improve access to GP services for South Australians in need.

In 2018, Lane established Winmante Medical Centre to improve access to GP services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Onkaparinga region. The practice was developed with the local community and Elders, to provide sustainable health solutions for the community.

Lane is a passionate advocate for youth and adolescent health. He operates bulk-billed youth clinics at his practices in Glenelg, Morphett Vale and online (via a program called Connect) to ensure teenagers and adolescents have access to affordable and quality health care services. He also presents health education sessions and programs at local high schools to further engage with this age group. One of the programs Lane implements is called Breakfast Club, an informal gathering on school grounds that allows him to catch up and engage in meaningful open discussions with teenagers over breakfast and discuss their fears, worries and answer any health-related questions they may have.

Lane is an active community member and a major sponsor of various community groups including PHOS Camden Football Club U18 team, Seacliff Surf Lifesaving Club and The Mill. His practices have provided monetary support to subsidise membership fees for youths and assist with training fees. Lane has also volunteered his time as a team trainer and to run free health education sessions and onsite health clinics for members.

Lane (or Dr Lane as he is so fondly referred to by his patients) is so well known for his work in schools and in the community that he is often recommended as the go-to Adelaide GP for youth and adolescents.
